Trade Secret Protection

A trade secret consists of information including a formula, pattern, idea, process or compilation of information that is not generally known or readily ascertainable.

A trade secret must confer some sort of economic benefit to its owner. Most importantly, it must be the subject of reasonable efforts to maintain its secrecy. If properly identified and maintained, a trade secret has an unlimited lifespan.
